    A Cabby situation…

    Apparently New York cab drivers overcharged passengers $8.3M by setting the rate to what was supposed to be used for trips to the suburbs. It’s not determined if the drivers were being dishonest OR if it was faulty technology. Nonetheless we as  “consumers” must be mindful of the services we utilize and not be afraid to question businesses. After all, WE are the consumers who have “our” best interests at heart.

    Wal-mart calls out “black” people?

    For this retailer, it seems like if it’s not one thing it’s another. An announcement was made over the PA system in a New Jersey store ordering all black people to leave. I understand the outrage from the customers but “reacting” to it won’t change the racist views that STILL takes place in “modern day America”. The best way to overcome is to elevate above.     Texas-books re-writing history??

    The Texas State Board of Education recently approved changes to their curriculum standard that would inject more “CONSERVATIVE” ideals into social studies, history, and economics. It is an outrage that a “board” comprised of lawyers, a dentist, a publisher to name a few are even allowed to have a say on an education curriculum especially with their professions being so specialized.     First female football coach appointed

    Let’s hear it for the ladies breaking GLASS CEILINGS! Congratulations to Natalie Randolph, who was appointed as the first female football coach to lead the varsity team at Calvin Coolidge Senior High School in DC. Of course she faces pressure because of her gender. Her previous experience as a pro football player for the DC Divas and as an assistant coach for a previous team will aid her in her new responsibilities as head coach. Let’s continue to break glass ceilings LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

    APPLE exposed…

    A blind eye and deaf ear are always turned to child labor practices in multi-million dollar corporations. The multi-national high-tech company, Apple, is another one. They recently admitted to child labor use in some of their factories overseas that build their computers, iPods, and cell phones.  The report also revealed some of the sweatshop conditions and how they ignored their own rule of staff not working more than 60 hours a week. It seems like the bigger the companies get (the more money they make), the higher the search is for cheaper labor. Continue reading
