May R’ebel of the Month: The Troops, the Lovers & the Fighters

I woke up this morning  very troubled by the current conditions of the world, from the unnecessary wars, to the violent and brutal attacks taking place in Gaza, Nigeria, and all over. This piece was written for and inspired by the lovers, the fighters, the children, and the soldiers in the world.

Every day someone’s dying and every day someone’s risking their lives in the name of “protecting the United States.” But who’s protecting them? The death toll in the Afghan War has now reached the 1,000s (thousands) but yet and still they stay faithful to “their” country. Besides ending this war and bringing them back home safely, not enough words will do them justice. I’m not a big fan of what the country celebrates as “holidays” but this Memorial Day and every day, I salute our troops. I am forever thankful for the sacrifices they make every day in the name of “the people.”

Let’s not forget about those who fight for their country in a non-militant way. Due to the carelessness and greed of big corporations, oil companies, and questionable politics, children have lost their lives, mothers have lost their children, and loved ones have lost their families. The lovers and the fighters  have died in the name of justice and humanity as well as  in pursuit of helping others. I am forever humbled by their courageous spirits and fortitude.

At times I wonder if I’m doing enough and if I’m not, then what AM I supposed to be doing? Every day I wake up is the opportunity to be a better me than yesterday. I ask myself and I ask you, what are you willing to r’ebel for? My answer is P.EA.C.E. (Positive Energy Always Conquers Evil).
